Hi,

          We are Bryan and Katrina.
We admire and respect the
courage, love, and maturity it
takes to make the difficult decision
you are now facing.  We hope this
letter conveys our deep desire to
become parents and to raise your
child in a loving, caring, nurturing,
Christian environment.

          While we've been happily
married for eleven years, our dream
is to grow as a family.  We eagerly
await the "roller coaster" ups and
downs of raising a child.  After
discovering we would not be able to
have a biological child, adoption
became the glue that kept our dream
from shattering.  There is a saying:
"When one door closes, God opens another."  We feel honored to not only still have the opportunity to parent but to also have a chance to make a difficult time for someone else (possibly you) a little easier by knowing that love, support, and comfort await both your baby and you.  We believe open adoption is the best way to achieve this relationship.

Our marriage is a partnership based on love, mutual respect, trust, and having honest and open communication, and we want to share these traits with our child in hopes he/she will carry on these values.  We both strongly believe in a good education for our child.  Bryan has a Master's degree in history; he is currently working as an assistant manager until a full time college instructor position becomes available.  His schedule is very flexible so he will have a good deal of free time to spend with our child.  Katrina has a Bachelor's degree in accounting and a Master's in elementary education; she is currently working full time as an accountant.  We own a home in the small community of Remlap, Alabama, which is about 20 miles north of Birmingham.  Both of our families, our extended church family, and friends are very supportive of our decision to adopt.

We have always been around children, and we have dreamed and discussed many times how we would raise a child.  We are filled with anticipation and excitement over cuddling, bathing, feeding, changing diapers, kissing scraped knees, playing dolls or trucks, comforting after lost ball games, seeing that first smile (and all other "firsts"), and so on.  In short, every aspect of being a parent thrills us.  We are looking forward to teaching and spending time with our child.  We can't wait to turn our vacations, walks along the beach, camping trips, afternoons hiking, picnicking, or a park, zoo, or museum trip into family excursions and share the beauty of the world with our child.  We have no intention of our parenting and involvement ending as our child gets older.  Being there for them during their ups and downs, cheering them on in their choice of activities, and watching them grow into responsible, independent adults will be very rewarding for us.

We are convinced there is a special child, though not of our flesh, whom the Lord intends for us to raise.  If you can see your baby with our family and you would like to embark on this special journey with us, please contact us at 1-800-836-3426 code # 00, or email us at [email protected], or call the Independent Adoption Center at 1-800-877-OPEN.  We would be happy to tell you more about ourselves, and would be thrilled if we could meet you.

May God give you strength and guidance throughout this difficult time in your life.

Sincerely,

    Bryan   and  Katrina
